Mobile Security Alert: be careful what you search for, you might just get it.

As more and more of the public’s day-to-day internet activity is executed on mobile devices, the Federal Trade Commission (FTA) may be ignoring some startling practices. Mobile searches are becoming extremely common, yet some companies are mining information such as IP Addresses, location and even more sensitive personal data stored on mobile devices. Right now, we are noticing some similar problems that occurred when computer-based searches began some time ago.

Sometimes, data collection can be very helpful. For instance, Google mobile search might remember proximity giving one more valid results in future searches. But this can be used for more sinister purposes. The fact of the matter is that the FTA needs to catch up with their regulations, and it is up to us to force them to do this.

In the mean time we recommend to our customers a steady diet of mobile anti-virus software updates as well as vigilance in all mobile search practices.

We found this great article in PC Magazines online edition that outlines the issue very well.

We recommend the following for Desktop and Mobile Security:
